Roger Wolfson Talks About His Experiences In Writing For TV

Roger Wolfson is an American TV writer and screenwriter who has written for five network TV series and has sold eight original television series. Over the years, he has worked on multiple TV shows like the Century City, Fairly Legal, Saving Grace, The Closer, as well as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.  In addition to making a mark in the entertainment industry, Roger Wolfson has also worked as a speechwriter for multiple White House heavyweights like Ted Kennedy, Paul Wellstone, John Kerry and Joe Lieberman. In addition to the various criticisms he had received in his early career, Wolfson also had a number of positive experiences. He got a chance to work with a huge name like Viola Davis while writing for Century City in 2004.  However, when that show got on the air, Wolfson was already writing for Law & Order: SVU. During that point, he was not too keen on writing a TV series that is too dark.

Roger Wolfson had once mentioned in an interview that he is addicted to authenticity and feels the need to get everything to right while writing a script. However, as a writer, he was bound by time constraints and had to maximize his earnings in the least possible hours.  According to Wolfson, these were some of the reasons why he majorly did shows based on politics and law, as he has an expansive knowledge about both these domain. He didn’t need to do too much research to perfectly get everything right about them.  While many know about his political and entrainment career, not all are well acquainted with Wolfson’s work in law. He, in fact, has worked for several law firms as an attorney, including Lieberman, Segalof, and Wolfson, which is a  firm  founded by his mother and Senator Lieberman.

Due to his dynamic experiences and expertise, Roger Wolfson had been branded as a political and legal guy in many writer rooms. On the basis of this personal experience, he also has advised young writers to develop a brand that they adequately know and not work on the basis of half baked knowledge. His strong work ethic has played a key role in boosting his success prospects.
