Steroid cycles are used by people for mainly three purposes which include: to improve the muscle mass and strength of the body, to promote a harder and leaner physique and also to improve athletic performance. It is for this reason that a number of body builders and athletes plan a proper steroid cycle to gain maximum benefit. A steroid cycle is defined as the time period or the duration in which a person uses anabolic steroids. The duration of the steroid cycle is between four to fifteen weeks which depends on the goals which have to be accomplished and also on the experience and anabolic compounds which are taken. A person generally takes a single steroid drug in a cycle and consuming more than one steroid compound in a cycle is referred to as stacking.
Stacking can lead to more gain in muscle mass and strength but is recommended only for advanced steroid users. In order to start a steroid cycle, a person must first understand and gain knowledge about steroid, risks, side effects, post cycle therapy and only then plan a steroid cycle accordingly. The greatest benefit of the anabolic steroids is noted when they are used in a logical sequence and this sequence is also referred to as steroid cycle. It is for this reason that body builders refer to the period as ‘on cycle’ when they are taking the steroids and refer to the period as ‘off period’ when they are not taking the steroids. Steroids can either be oral or injectable. Oral steroids like the the Boldenone undecylenate ester produce quick results but are toxic if consumed for long duration whereas injectable steroids have slower effects. It is for this reason that many people first take oral steroids for a month and then start on injectable steroids to avoid the toxic effects.
The length of the cycle is also important. The cycle should not be too long or too short because the real effect of the steroids is visible only after three weeks. Muscle gain is visible in two weeks but strength building requires a minimum of three weeks period. At the same time cycle should not be very long because the body will not be able to cope up with the losses. In this case with long steroid cycles, the body will not recover its ability to produce natural testosterone which is suspended at the time of steroid intake. Thus longer the cycle length is the recovery time.
High doses of anabolic steroids like the Boldenone undecylenate ester can lead to several health issues even though they lead to increase in muscle strength. The most common side effect is the cessation of the production of the natural hormone testosterone. The other side effects include testicular shrinkage, the decrease in sperm count, impotence, premature balding, enlarged prostate, gynecomastia, acne, elevated cholesterol levels, jaundice, kidney and liver damage and high risk of cardiovascular disease. However, there are ways to minimize or overcome these side effects by using medications and by using specific steroids. Like anti estrogen, compounds are used to combat gynecomastia.
